At Shanuju, we take your personal data very seriously. Please, read this Privacy Policy carefully, as it contains important information on how your data is collected, stored, used, and shared. It also explains your rights about your personal data and how to contact us or supervisory authorities if you have a complaint.
When we use your personal data, our actions are regulated under the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) which applies across the European Union. We are responsible as a controller of that personal data for the purposes of the GDPR. Our use of your personal data is subject to your instructions, the GDPR, and other relevant EU legislation.
This Privacy Policy applies to Shanuju mobile app and website (“Service”).
By using the Service, you agree with the collection, use, and sharing of your personal data by the terms of this Privacy Policy.
When you use the Service, the following information is collected about you.
After your account is registered, a profile page is created for you (“Profile”), which includes information you submit, in particular, your username and password.
Note: the app includes a leaderboard noting your username and learning progress points so a pseudonym should be provided if you don’t want information mentioned being made public to other users.
This data is necessary to create and manage your account, which allows you to use the Service. By using the Service, you agree to your user data being displayed on the leaderboard.
Educational progress:
We will also generate data regarding your engagement in educational activities on the Service. By default, your username and the learning progress points are visible to other users on the leaderboard.
Your data is collected and processed to perform a contract with you (providing you with the Service requested). For example, registering your account, maintaining your Profile, and providing customer service to you.
We process certain usage data based on our legitimate interest in improving the Service. This may include data on how users interact with various features, as well as identifying technical issues like bugs or interface problems. Processing this data helps us to make updates and improvements that enhance the user experience and service reliability for all users. We ensure that processing this data minimally impacts user privacy by collecting only the necessary, non-identifiable information to improve the service. Users retain the right to object to this processing if they feel their privacy is impacted.
Your data may also be collected to manage the leaderboard with your consent.
Personal data may be processed and shared to comply with law, such as providing information under requests of public authorities, protecting our interests, or preventing illegal activities.
We do not share your personal data with any third parties outside of our team.
Under the data protection legislation, you have the following rights.
To exercise any of these rights, please don’t hesitate to contact us at project@shanuju.com.
To delete your Profile, please, follow the instructions in the Service.
The GDPR also gives you the right to complain to a supervisory authority, in the European Union (or European Economic Area) state where you normally live or where any alleged infringement of data protection laws occurred. If you want to make a complaint within the relevant Supervisory Authority, please check the list of them.
We will retain your personal data as long as your Profile remains active. Once the Profile is deleted, all data associated with it will be permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
However, certain information may be retained longer if necessary to defend our legitimate interests, comply with legal requirements, defend ourselves in disputes, or investigate misuse or disruption of the Service.
Fully anonymized and no longer reversible data may be stored indefinitely.
To deliver services to you, it is sometimes necessary for us to share your personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA), e.g. if you are based outside the EEA.
These non-EEA countries may not have the same data protection laws as the EEA. We will, however, ensure the transfer complies with GDPR and all that personal data will be secure.
If you would like further information, please contact us at project@shanuju.com.
We have appropriate security measures to prevent personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed unlawfully. We limit access to your personal data to those who have a genuine business need to access it. Those processing your information will do so only in an authorised manner.
Passwords are securely hashed before storage, ensuring that they cannot be easily deciphered. Additionally, all communication between the application and our servers is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security), which protects data from unauthorized access during transmission.
We also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. We will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach where we are legally required to do so.
This Privacy Policy may be changed from time to time. When changes to the Privacy Policy are introduced, the date of the last update on the top of the document gets revised. In some cases changes may also be communicated via in-app notifications, if appropriate.
By continuing to access or use the Service after such notice has been provided, you confirm your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
Please, review the Privacy Policy frequently. You as the User are responsible for reviewing this policy to stay informed of any updates.
For any questions regarding this privacy policy or your data, please contact us at project@shanuju.com.
